Little Libraries inspires a love of reading, build community, and spark creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around Lee County.
Through Little Free Libraries, hundreds of books are exchanged each year, profoundly increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds.
One of our community impact initiatives focuses on the importance of literacy. During our 2nd annual Day of Caring Event, volunteers painted old newspaper dispensers donated by Sauk Valley Media. Dispensers were installed at 4 Dixon parks by the Dixon Park District. For our 3rd annual day of caring, volunteers cleaned up the libraries and placed new books produced from our June 2017 community book drive. The community response has been amazing. Many have donated books directly to the libraries during the year. The concept is easy. Take a book, leave a book or simply borrow the book for a little while and bring it back.
Current Locations: Wooden Wonderland, Dixon Bike Path on Washington Ave, Splash Pad, Ballou Park, Teen Turf Amboy, Ashton High School, Grand Detour
We thank the staff of the Dixon Park District for their continued support with this program. They maintain the libraries and make any necessary repairs throughout the year!
